Multipotentiality Can Be a Way of Life

A "multipotentialite" is an individual whose interests cover multiple areas and fields, contrary to a specialist whose interests focus on a specific field. I am assuming you now thinking... am I a multipotentialite or a specialist? Just in case you have never thought about this, let me tell you that it is acceptable to have interest in different fields and to build your career around the work you love. That being said, if you would ideally like to focus on more than one field, you might qualify for a multipotentialite. Toni, a life coach with multiple interests, has decided to focus on all of them. Find out how she became a world traveller, doing the work(s) she loves...

Tell us about your life before you became a high carb vegan coach

I am someone that is curious, that is multi-passionate about many things. I love to explore the world, my mind, people and foods. I come from a small city called Hull in the UK. It’s not a place I ever saw myself staying for the rest of my life like the many people that live there. I knew there was more. I went in search of me and the world. I found so many wonderful places and people that I connected with on a deeper and spiritual level. I felt whole. Hence the name of my website. Before thewholesomeyou I was in and out of jobs such as working in a bar, working at the gym, being a sports coach, teaching at many schools to now where I help people become the best versions of themselves, whilst travelling at the same time.

Not so long a go I was miserable, I hated life. I was unfilled. I wasn’t living the way I wanted to. I didn’t want to go out drinking every weekend, I did that most of my teens and early twenties, I was sick of yo-yo dieting and never feeling good enough. I was always hungry and deprived. I had a huge appetite for food and for life. Now I have finally found what I am truly passionate about and now it’s about eating as many carbs as I care for, being fit and healthy and helping others create a life and body they love too.

What is your biggest passion and when did you first come across this passion? Is it part of your life now?

This is difficult to say as I am a multipotentialite haha. I love travel, helping people get healthy in mind and body and animals. Your 20's are all about finding yourself. I was a confused mess in my 20's. We were always told to pick one area of interest but that wasn’t me. I loved many things. At the time I thought this held me back because I didn’t stick to anything. I was in and out of jobs, many times having 3 jobs at one time. I started to understand myself in my late twenties. Travel and personal development teach you so much about yourself. I highly recommend everyone to travel and read/listen to books/audios. I read a personal development book for at least 30 minutes everyday. I use my ‘drive time’ and training time listening to empowerment audios like Brendon Burchard, Tony Robins, Wayne Dyer and many more.

Tell us about what you do now

I am currently working on a few businesses. But my main passion is my thewholesomeyou website and my youtube channel. I can show people a way to be healthy, vibrant and save the planet and animals at the same time. I help people live a high carb vegan lifestyle.  I say lifestyle because it’s not a diet. I talk about the 5 philosophies of thewholesomeyou:

1. Travel

2. Vegan Lifestyle

3. Live Minimally

4. Health and Well-being

5. Do work you Love

How did you get started on making your dreams become a reality?

3 things;

  • I kept reading personal development books/ listening to audios everyday
  • Kept focused and remained consistent, even if its just a little everyday, read slight edge – awesome book
  • Surrounded myself with positive and inspirational people. Follow those you wish to become. Remember you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with

What were your biggest fears before stepping out of your comfort zone and how did you overcome those fears?

I am going to be honest, money was always my problem and still is at times. But just know that it will all work out. That’s were I learned about living minimally. Because what do we really need? We are so attached to our stuff and it ends up owning us and we feel like we can’t do anything about it. But we can. When we take that pressure off ourselves, not succumbing to the consumerism, we can focus on what we really love. Focus on helping/serving rather than on what we can get for ourselves. A great book that I got a lot from was ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers. That book helped me immensely.

The other fear I had was what people would think? You really have to not care what other people think. They will judge you no matter what. There will always be those that won’t understand and may not even support you. Many of my friends and family were and some are like that now. But when you live your purpose the right ones come into your life. I certainly get a few peoples backs up when I talk about Veganism and animal cruelty. When I speak the truth many people don’t like it. They get defensive and hate to accept they are wrong.

Do you have any unfulfilled dreams?

There isn’t anything major as I believe I am working on them all. But I would like to live in Thailand permanently for a while.  I would like to travel full time when my dogs pass. I want to speak on stages all across the world about Veganism and how to live a fulfilling life.

What is biggest inspiration for doing what you do?

Being the voice for animals, helping people make the connection, helping people become whole, fit and healthy.

Do you have a person or a quote that inspires you the most?

There are many! Freelee the Banana Girl, Durianrider, Wayne Dyer, Marie Forleo, Emily Borreick – Bitesize Vegan, Gary Yourosky. My favorite quote is by Scott Dinsmore: "You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with."
